God Blesses Little Bags of Faith
by Heather Nissley, Children’s Pastor, New Hope Assembly of God, Taylor, Michigan
At New Hope Assembly in Taylor, Michigan, our Sunday School director, Geri, recently read the book Why Some Churches are Blessed by Dan Betzer. Afterward, Geri asked God what she could do to help make missions a higher priority in Sunday School.
Geri felt compelled to set a BGMC goal of $500 for the Sunday School kids to give to missions. This is more than they have ever given at one time.
At the Sunday School promotion that followed in September, Geri challenged the kids by giving each a small bag with two quarters in it. Geri asked the children to go home and pray and ask their parents what they could do for God and how they could multiply that 50 cents. After only two weeks, over $1,000 came in for BGMC—more than double the amount Geri was believing God for!
For over a year, Geri (whose husband passed away about a year ago) has been trusting God for her own healing. This woman of faith has been a true inspiration to our children of the power of prayer, trust in God, and having a heart for missions. This story of what God can do has inspired many in our church to continue to give to God and to trust Him.
We are so thankful God has used this seed of faith to bless the missionary work in Cambodia through BGMC.
