Just Pray It!

Just Pray It: The PRAY formula for "Pray, Give, Go."

Praying to Jesus is simply talking to Him. When you pray to Jesus, He hears and answers your prayers. Learn more about how to pray by reading what's below and the information shared in the right side boxes called "More Prayer Needs" and "Learn More About Prayer."

Pray for the World

Psalm 139:1-3,15,16, tells us that each of us is very special to God:

"O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

Now that you know how special you are to God, and how everyone on earth is special to Him, you can better understand this: why He wants everyone to know Him. John 3:16 tells us how very much God loves us and wants everyone to have a personal relationship with Him:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

We all need to pray to God that He will send workers and missionaries to reach the spiritually lost.

Prayer is a mystery in that God chose to give us a free will. He wants us to freely go to Him in prayer. Prayer is simply talking to God-out loud or quietly. God does mighty things when we ask Him to. For this reason, we need to ask Him for specific ways to reach the lost people around us and around the world.

Here's an example of how you can pray for the world. First, learn all you can about what our missionaries are doing here in the United States and worldwide. Often the articles will tell specifically of what is needed to reach more people for Christ. Also, the articles will often tell how you can pray that those needs will be met. Once you learn more about the missionary needs and what to pray for, you can specifically ask God to provide for those needs. And guess what? God will answer your prayers!

Pray for Missionaries

The national BGMC office produces a CD called Around the World that includes a monthly lesson application that highlights a country or ministry. Each lesson includes a list of ways kids can pray for the missionaries of that country or ministry being highlighted. The CD is provided free of charge to Assembly of God churches that participate and give to BGMC. Ask your children's pastor or leader to print off missionary prayer requests that you can take home and pray over.

Pray for the Needy

Every community has people who are in need. In fact, people often don't realize just how many needy people there are right where they live.

Find ways that you can assist the needy people in your community. For example, put together back-to-school kits full of school supplies and give them to a charitable organization that can pass them on to needy kids. Ask your children's pastor or leader how your entire church group can help the needy in your community.

Pray specifically for the needy people in your community and around the world. Ask your parent or a church teacher or leader to find out what the needs are in your community, so you can help and so you can pray.
